本书针对中国古代钱币铸造领域专业用词混乱的现状，结合古代文献、文物和现代铸造术语，对中国古代钱币铸造领域术语进行了整理和规范。按照国家标准，进行了中英文术语对照和术语名词解释。同时收录了作者在模印范竖式直浇铸钱、叠铸法铸钱历程，以钱范考证更始五铢、梁五铢，以及翻砂铸钱起源等具体铸钱领域的重点研究成果，既是铸钱术语的具体学术应用示例，也是钱币铸造学分支学科长足发展的体现。最后还附录了石范铸钱、叠铸法铸钱、翻砂铸钱的具体流程。
